moral of the story: Hispanics and Blacks (saying African Americans doesn't work very well when one of the people interviewed is British) are under-represented in video games and actually like games that are not just shooters and sports games. apparently this is a surprise.
good point: positive black character included in Left4Dead without making it obvious or awkward. also Cole in Gears of War is basically giant blackface stereotype with gun.
seemed to forget: "would love it if there was a Square-produced RPG that had a brown protagonist."
SQUARE'S FINAL FANTASY 7 AND FINAL FANTASY 12 GAMES (most famous game franchise of all time besides mario maybe?) HAVE BLACK MAIN CHARACTERS.
though i guess it's way too soon to talk about gay video games characters, right?
